Partagas Maduro No 2 Appearance:
The Partagas Maduro No.2 is a beautiful cigar, an unusual vitola, a fairly short but interesting cigar with its Pyramid-style head, 4.75 inches long (120 mm) by 55 ring gauge. The wrapper is a beautiful Colorado Maduro, of medium dark brown color, not as dark as other maduro cigars. The wrapper is rather oily and has a smooth feeling to it. There is no apparent soft spot on the cigar, it is well back from the head to the foot. In addition to the regular Partagas band, there is also a special Maduro No.2 band.
Partagas Maduro No 2 Smoking Notes:
Before lighting up
The aromas coming from the wrapper are savory, with some dry bread notes, while there is sweet notes on the foot, mixed with some cocoa. On the cold, some pepper and hints of sweetness.
The draw itself is perfect, it has just the right amount of resistance. Once the foot is lit, the cigar releases a very thick and white creamy smoke. Beautiful burn right away.
The Partagas Maduro No.2 starts off with some delicious cocoa flavors, while there are also some of this dry bread/toast flavor that was present on the pre-light draw as well some pepper notes remaining on the tongue. On the retrohale, the pepperiness is even more present. The flavor profile then evolves towards richer and deeper flavors such as earth, coffee with some sweet fruit notes as well (dark berry). The draw and the burn have remained excellent all the way. The ash holds on solidly at the foot, with a nice dark gray color. The strength is not over powerful at this point, just above medium.
In the middle part of the cigar, the flavor profile on the Partagas Maduro No.2 evolves slightly, the pepper is still one of the dominant flavors, while there is still some beautiful toastiness while the sweet notes are also coming in and out (berries). The whole flavor profile is very enjoyable, helped by its spotless construction, the burn line is even and sharp and each draw generates huge billows of creamy smoke. The strength has increased slightly but is still under the full mark.
In the last part of the cigar, the Maduro No.2 reveals its true self, the strength increases to the full mark. The sweetness has faded away while there is now a return of the earthy flavor and the roasted coffee from the beginning of the cigar. While the strength has noticeably increased, it is not overpowerful, and it is still very smooth overall. There is now plenty of dark chocolate, some nuttiness while the pepper faded away. The cigar smokes very well until the end, the draw and the burn remain amazing.
In summary, the Partagas Maduro No.2 is a real beauty but hard to-find, so do not miss your chance to try it out
